New York has made the development of a distributed energy future a centerpiece of the Governor’s path breaking “Reforming the Energy Vision” initiative. The environmental consequences of dramatic increases in distributed generation, however, have not been empirically examined. Several states have created RTP rate structures voluntary and mandatory – on various categories of customers, usually industrial, larger commercial and institutional customers. Brownfield Tax Credits: An Incentive for Siting CHP

Abstract: Recently enacted state legislation provides a significant suite of state tax credits aimed at brownfield redevelopment. These refundable credits are directly applicable to any capital investment at an eligible site. Brownfield redevelopment tax credits coupled with other financial incentives can encourage the use of CHP where such use is suitable for brownfield redevelopment. Using cost-effective CHP at a brownfield site to better manage energy costs could improve project economics for the brownfield developer, the end use property owner and tenants at the site.
